General & Emergency Assistance Training Seminar

Join us for an in-depth training on GA/EA, presented by Wheeling Township’s Director of General Assistance Julie Villarreal. Light breakfast & lunch will be provided. This class is designed with newly elected Township Supervisors and new staff in mind. Instruction will include how to set up and adopt the TSI GA and EA Handbooks, an explanation of the interviewing process to determine eligibility, information on how to complete the required legal notices and Budget Computation Worksheets. Lastly, the class will impart the importance of referring residents to other programs or services which may be helpful to them, as required by both the GA and EA Handbooks.

The cost to attend is $40 for MTA Members and $50 for Non-Members. Registration can be completed online via Eventbrite.

Julie Villarreal is the Director of General Assistance at Wheeling Township. Her department qualifies needy residents for assistance and is an information and referral resource for other services. Besides General Assistance and Emergency Assistance, Julie is responsible for a myriad of other township services, including Food Pantry, LIHEAP, seasonal programs, Mobile Dental Clinic, SNAP applications and Access to Care. With over 30 years of experience in the social services field, she has extensive knowledge of local, state and federal programs designed to help those in financial crisis. Assisting Julie are two Case Managers, the Food Pantry Coordinator and 50 volunteers.
